Jeff Gardner
Co-Founder | Lead Engineer
Jeff Gardner brings more than 30 years of experience in music and live sound production to The Real Sound Production Company.
A seasoned bassist and keyboardist, Jeff has performed across a wide range of genres, including R&B, pop, light rock, cover bands, and Washington, DC’s iconic Go-Go scene. That musician-first background shapes how he approaches sound—always with an ear for clarity, balance, and how audio supports both performers and audiences.
Throughout his years on stage, Jeff naturally became the bridge between artists and engineers. He developed a reputation for clearly translating creative intent into technical execution, ensuring that what performers needed was accurately delivered through the sound system. That role led him to pursue live sound engineering as a craft, not just a function.
Jeff built his expertise through hands-on experience across venues, systems, and production environments, learning directly from engineers, stagehands, and production crews. He later founded Sound By Jeff, establishing a reputation throughout the Charlotte area for professionalism, reliability, and clean, controlled mixes. His work expanded to support larger productions, including major comedy tours and events inside Bank of America Stadium.
As live production evolved into fully digital workflows, Jeff committed himself to mastering modern mixing consoles and production systems, blending contemporary technology with decades of musician-driven instincts. That progression, along with a long-standing professional partnership with engineer Will Kelly, led to the formation of Real Sound Productions.
Today, Jeff is known for steady execution, clear communication, and an uncompromising standard of quality. His approach remains simple: if his name is on it, the work has to be right.
